Given-Taken MV

Hello and welcome to Mourning Cloak’s K-pop flight!!  I am Mourning Cloak and I am glad you could join me!  Here's the podcast that relates to this Flight -

Below are some of the highlights from the podcast including the Bible verses in case I read where they were from too quickly,  links to what I discussed in the podcast, and some visuals that cannot be provided in a podcast setting.

For this flight, I covered the music video and theories related to it and their connections Biblically.
Here's a link to the YouTube playlist.  In includes songs previously discussed, the songs mentioned in the podcast, and a video from each of the two theorists I mentioned throughout the podcast.

BTS
I mentioned BTS in NYC.  Here are a few links from the first days, but there are more interviews out there (Good Morning America) and photos of what all they did in the very few days they were in NYC.  I've made the trip to Seoul once in my life and was exhausted the entire trip - I am amazed at how much they accomplished in those few days!!

Enhypen's Comeback
Here is the schedule I mentioned for the Enhypen comeback!

Orphans
Here are some of the articles I read related to Korean orphanages or about those who had been orphans.

Below are the Biblical references I discussed in this episode of my podcast.

Given-Taken
Orphans
Deuteronomy 14:29 … so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

Esther 2:7 Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This young woman, who was also known as Esther, had a lovely figure and was beautiful.  Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died.

Psalms 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of the widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

Psalms 146:9 The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and widow, but he frustrates the way of the wicked.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Writing on the Wall
Daniel 5:5-6, 25-28
Suddenly the fingers of a human appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lamp stand in the royal palace.  The king watched the hand as it wrote.  6 His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking.
25 "This is the inscription that was written:
MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN
26 "Here is what these words mean:
MENE:  God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
27 TEKEL:  You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
28 PERES:  Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."

Control
Psalms 32:8-9 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.  Do not be like the horse or mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.

Romans 6:5-7 For we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-because anyone who has dies has been set free from sin.

Philemon 1:15-19 Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back forever-no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother.  He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord.  So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.  If he has done you any wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me.  I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand.  I will pay it back-not to mention you owe me your very self.

In the podcast, I mentioned having read a historical fiction book based on the life of Onesimus.  I tried to search for it and discovered there are multiple books that have been written about this short book in the New Testament!  I'm not sure which one is was but here are two links to books that might have been the one?  If I find the time to read these and determine it was the one I read, I will try to remember to come back and update this or add a comment!

Reflecting
1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."

Chain Breaker
Psalms 2:2-3 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, "Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles."

Psalms 107:10-14 Some sat in  darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains, because they rebelled against God's commands and despised the plans of the Most High.  So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help.  Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.  He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.

Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Hebrews 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) by Chris Tomlin - Video in playlist shows an acapella cover by Noteworth
🎵My chains are gone, I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love
Amazing grace🎵

Chain Breaker by Zach Williams chorus
🎵If you've got pain
He's a pain taker
If you feel lost
He's a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He's a prison-shaking Savior
If you've got chains
He's a chain breaker🎵

Time Travel or Alternative Universes
Here's a link to a description of the Wrinkle in Time quintet that I mentioned.  https://www.madeleinelengle.com/books/middle-grade-young-adult/a-wrinkle-in-time/a-wrinkle-in-time-quintet-hardcover-boxed-set/
And when I went to look this up, I was reminded that I had forgotten that some of these books were banned at different times for various reasons.  To me, some make sense some don't.  There were complaints that it confused good and evil, though I never felt that good was represented as evil or vice versa.  There were also complaints that Jesus is listed amongst a list of list of great teachers rather than being represented as our Savior.  That I understand, but I never let that stop me reading something.  I know that not all believe the way I do, so I read to understand and to see other views.  At the same time, I understand why some parents especially would not want their children reading books in school without having discussions with them when their beliefs are not strongly represented or are misrepresented in those books.  But just a little bit of information for you to make a more informed decision on whether you would like to read any of the books within this series.

Lights
Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

I hope this blog providing additional details and some visuals that can't be provided in the podcast are helpful.  If you have any recommendations to make it better for you, please let me know!!

🦋 I’m hoping our butterfly effect on this flight together will help to make the world better for all of us.  Thank you for joining me on this flight and I look forward to our next discussion about the next song on the Border: Day One album!  ðŸ¦‹
